General Trading Division
Union Industries is the trading title for the merchanting, engineering
and manufacturing divisions of Ralph Ellerker (1795) Ltd, a company that
for the last two centuries has served the needs of Industry and the Farming
community as Saddlers, Cover makers and Rope and Twine Merchants from
its ancient premises within the walls of York City.
| The General Trading division carries on the 200 year
old Ellerker tradition of making and supplying all manner of practical
products for lashing, securing, and weather protection in rope, netting
and heavy duty waterproof fabrics from its enlarged but equally characterful
factory in Leeds.
Originally working with heavyweight canvas and rope
such as was originally used on British Naval Man’o War ships of the Line, traditional skills have been adapted to modern day requirements using the latest materials and fabrics.
As the General Trading Division has grown and developed over the years so has the range of products it manufactures, some of which have been spun off to become divisions in there own right within the company, such as Union Environmental and Union’s famed Matadoor Hi-speed Industrial door division.
