Ramdoor™ brings sweet smell of success to United Fish Industries

Union Industries, the market-leading manufacturer of the Matadoor™ range of High Speed Industrial Roller Doors, has installed one of its fast-acting Ramdoors™ to support environmental challenges at United Fish Industries.

The Grimsby-based company approached Union to help reduce odour emissions from its Raw Material Store.  United Fish Industries manufactures fish meal and fish oil at the facility, which is made from raw fish material that is stored in the raw material store.

Union’s heavy duty Ramdoor™ dramatically reduced the opportunity for odour escape due to its fast-acting opening and closing speeds. The opening is in constant use throughout production hours as materials are delivered into the store by forklifts, skips wagons and bulk lorries.

Vehicle operators can activate the door mechanism through the use of remote control key fobs as they approach the door, ensuring the Ramdoor opens for the absolute minimum amount of time necessary.

Manufactured as part of the Matadoor™ range of Hi-Speed Roller Doors, the Ramdoor features Union’s industry-leading ‘Crash-Out’ facility, which allows the doors to remain operable if hit by a vehicle. Common to all doors in the Matadoor Range, the Ramdoor™ is supplied, as standard, with fire retardant and anti-static door blades which are essential features in all working environments. 

United Fish Industries is part of the Welcon Group that also has fishmeal and fish oil operations in Ireland, Scotland and Norway. The company employs 29 people in Grimsby and has a major position in the Northern Europe fishmeal production and supply sector.
