The Cream of Hi-Speed Doors installed at Ballyrashane01/02/2009 - Source: The Grocery Trader Union Industries, the market leading manufacturer of the Matadoor™ range of Hi-Speed Doors, has strengthened its ties with the renowned Ballyrashane Creamery in Northern Ireland with the installation of a second Bulldoor™. This latest Bulldoor™ has been installed in a corridor to protect a storage and packing area for the Creamery’s butter products, from the ingress of dirt, vermin and the elements, which is a key requirement in the food manufacturing sector. The Creamery has been manufacturing dairy products since 1896 from its 10-acre site in Cloyfin, Coleraine. Employing 150 people, the creamery serves the Irish milk market and global butter and cheese markets. Situated close to an external opening, the Bulldoor’s™ fast-acting operating speeds ensure quick access from the outside world with the minimum escape of chilled air into the corridor. Union’s original Bulldoor™, which was installed at the Coleraine-based creamery in 2006, is utilised as the external door leading from the temperature controlled Milk Chiller to the Yard, again ensuring the inside of the building is not affected by outside temperatures, which during summer months can be quite high. Opening and closing at 1.6 metres per second, Union’s fast acting doors provide the perfect solution for temperature control and reducing energy loss. Another advantage of the Bulldoor™ is its unique ‘Crash-Out’ system. This feature enables the door to remain operable if the travelling ‘bottom beam’ is hit by a vehicle or forklift truck, which is a great blessing when managing high volume traffic movement. Common to all doors in the Matadoor™ Range of Hi-Speed Doors, the Bulldoor™ is supplied as standard with fire retardant and anti-static door blades which are particularly beneficial health & safety and hygiene features. Francis Kerr, General Manager from Ballyrashane Creamery, said: “We have been very impressed with the performance of our original Bulldoor™ which has been found to require minimal maintenance and has proven very effective in reducing energy loss and streamlining logistics. It also meets the requirements in the corridor to the butter area, so was the ideal choice for that application.” Steve Moultrie, Technical Sales Engineer at Union Industries, said: “We are very pleased to again be working with Ballyrashane Creamery to help prevent energy loss from their building and maintain the chilled temperatures and hygiene requirement for their products. They will also benefit further from the fact that all the doors in our range meet the strict regulations surrounding food manufacturing & processing and by increased traffic productivity.”
